Robert Plisnier was born in Brussels in 1951. He was educated in England, at Eton College, where he won the School Drawing Prize, and then went to study Fine Art at LAcademie des Beaux Arts in Paris from 1969 - 1972.
Whilst continuing to paint and to draw, it was not until 1987 that Plisnier decided to make painting his full time career. He prepared for his first exhibition while living in Barcelona. He now lives and works in Gloucestershire.
His paintings principally depict elegant young women in cafe society. The images are dashed in with sweeping brush strokes full of colour. This combination, as much as the image itself, is what gives Plisniers work such impact and vitality. He works in oil on canvas and oil on paper.
There have been various one man exhibitions in London and Belgium. His work has also been included in numerous group exhibitions throughout Britain.
