Robert Plisnier was born in Brussels in 1951. He was educated in England 1960 - 1969, at Eton College, where he won the School Drawing Prize, and then went to study Fine Art at the Academy des Beaux Arts in Paris 1969 - 1972.
Whilst continuing to paint and to draw, it was not until 1987 that Plisnier decided to make painting his full time career. He prepared for his first exhibition while living in Barcelona. He now lives and works in Gloucestershire.
Robert’s paintings principally depict elegant young people in cafe society. The images are dashed in with dramatic sweeping brush strokes full of colour. This combination, as much as the image itself, is what gives Robert’s work such impact and vitality. Robert works in oil on canvas and paper.
Robert’s work has been exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions in London, throughout Britain and Belgium.
